Principal’s Message

Here we are in the month of December! The cold weather and rain is here.  Please make sure you send your children with warm clothing.  They love to play outside even when it is chilly so please send them prepared with a warm jacket.

Our parent conference day was cancelled on Nov. 16th due to poor air quality.  The District has decided to have a 1:30 dismissal day for 1st-6th graders on Friday Dec. 7th to make up for that parent conference day.

As we are approaching winter break, I would like to thank students, staff, and parents for contributing to the Patwin community that we are all so proud to be part of.  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers that support our students and staff.  A big shout out to everyone who helped organize the Hawk-A-Thon this year!  Thank you to our Hawk-A-Thon coordinators, Leslie Blevins, Carrie Cloud and Sara Rabin.  Thank you to Noelle Van Hest for her beautiful flyers and coordination of the Cake Walk. The Hawk-A-Thon was well attended and a very fun event!   Thank you to All Parent contributions from driving on field trips, volunteering as a garden parent, volunteering in class, supporting your child at home and for are all of the generous financial contributions and support that makes our school and community so special. You are making a difference in the lives of our children.  On behalf of the students and staff at Patwin, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all you do and contribute.

This holiday season give your child and family the gift of time. Relax at a park for a day and have a picnic. Take a nature walk at a local preserve. Visit the local library. Enjoy a meal together as a family. Have a night in with the family and play a favorite board game. It can be reading a book together, playing catch, decorating cookies, or telling stories together. The most important things in life are family and friends, so this holiday season make an effort to spend quality time with both. As parents, you are extremely important to your children. This month, make it a goal to spend an evening, day or weekend with them. The holiday season is all about giving, and the quality time you spend together can be better than anything wrapped up in a bow under the tree!

The school year is more than 1/3 of the way through and shortly after we return from the holiday break we will be preparing to celebrate the hundredth day of school! School will be closed for two weeks beginning Monday December 25th – January 5th.  Our first day back to school is on January 8th

We celebrate all students, all cultures and all traditions here at Patwin, and we extend our best to all of you for a wonderful winter break and a safe and joyful holiday season.
